Fact 1: We need to secure our border.

Fact 2: The flood of immigrants from the Northern Triangle countries of Central America should not be leveraged as political pawns. Rather they should be viewed as people requiring humanitarian assistance.

I’m not a fool. I completely grasp that the massive flow of immigrants into the United States via its southern border is a political hot potato. Yet that doesn’t change the fact that in reality people are flooding to the United States to flee murder and oppression at home. Whether some want to acknowledge it or not, these people are fighting for their lives. Simply put, you either give a damn about people or you don't.

Any solution is going to be difficult to forge. Moreover, given that we’re dealing with a humanitarian issue, we should be able to work in a bi-partisan manner to craft an equitable, moral and ethical solution.
